In Today's Vortex, Michael Voris reports on the fact that Michael Sam, the first openly gay player drafted into the NFL, got engaged to his boyfriend in Michelangelo's Dome atop Saint Peter's Basilica. On the historic feast of the Espousal of the Blessed Virgin Mary, I find this story sickening. (For these reasons I've not embedded the video on this site; click the link to watch at own risk.)
Why in the world of all places a same-sex engagement be allowed in one of the most important churches of Christendom? Who let them in? Did Cardinal Dolan get them in? Did the Pope approve this?
As a practicing Catholic I would love to visit Rome someday. Granted, there are many non-Catholic tourists who enter the Basilica on a daily basis. I would never think of climbing up to the dome. I never thought anyone but a janitor would go up there. But how can these anti-Catholic people be allowed atop the Eternal City while Fr. Nicholas Gruner always gets harassed by Vatican security for wanting to ask the Pope to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary?
