Statement on the CT School Shooting

I would like to express my condolences to the families of the victims of yesterday's school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. I will also pray for the repose of their souls.

Something like this should never happen, but it does because most people in the world today are not faithful to the Holy Name of Jesus. Most of them, sadly, claim to be "Catholic."

Based on what I understand, seven of the children attended the local Catholic parish in the town, which is a Novus Ordo parish. If they have been baptized, and since they have not reached the age of reason and have not yet received First Holy Communion, they will go straight to heaven.

But unfortunately, if any of the slain adults were Catholic, they will be called "heroes," which is theology incorrect. But either way, I hope a priest will say a Requiem Mass for the repose of these victims' souls.

Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Requiescant in pace. Amen. Fidelium amimae per misericordiam Dei requiescant in pace. Amen.
