Bishop Finn charged with failing to report crime

His Excellency, Bishop Robert Finn of Kansas City, MO, has been charged with failing to report child pornography that was posted on a priest's computer. He plead not guilty. He faces one year in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted. Instead of reporting the crime to the police directly, he had a cop, who is a parishioner who is on a diocesan review board, view it to see if it was porn. Apparently, the cop didn't think so. (You may read the full article by MSNBC here.)

Ironically, the SSPX U.S. District Headquarters are located in Kansas City, where their annual conference was held last weekend. Although Bishop Finn has said Tridentine Masses and staffs priests to traditional convents throught his diocese, the SSPX is more popular and influential in KC.
