Cookout this coming weekend...please come!

Next weekend (Sun Sept 12), there will be a cookout, weather permitting, after the Mass at Mary Immaculate in Newton. Even though there might be rain, I still would wish to meet you and socialize at the doughnut and coffee hour after Mass. According to the bulletin, they will have the cookout on the 19th if it rains? Well, what if it rains both weekends?

My birthday is the 16th, and I would like this very special present for my birthday. How am I supposed to keep going without my companion, other than my hand missal?

It is quite possible that I could meet my mate this week, but who knows. If I don't have one before my birthday, I'm in trouble!

When I attend the mass, most of the pilgrim girls in attendance look younger than their actual age.  They must not eat junk food! I wish all women would have the same skinage level as Stevie Nicks has. NO KIDDING. How am I supposed to end up with a raggedy elderly person?

Speaking of youth, this is a good thing. Would you think for one moment that, when the Holy Father issued his Motu Proprio, that only the people born before 1969 were going to attend the Latin Mass?

For sure I didn't, but I was wrong three years ago. Ever since making the conversion to tradition, I have seen two critical age groups: 0-13 (pre-Confirmation) and 25-40, who are the vast majority at the Latin masses I have attended this calendar year thus far. You'll get older people, but they are scarce compared to my ex-parish. At SJ's, they average parishioner was 65 years old. At Mary Immaculate of Lourdes, the average, just by judging the book by the cover, is in the early to mid thirites. WHAT A CULTURE SHOCK!

A few items must be factored in:
  • SJ's is in a crime-spree city, lousy neighborhood, and close proximaty to an Irish club, MBTA station, and a Gay Pride bar. MIL is located in the "safest city in America" [Forbes magazine], in a peaceful neighborhood, across the street from a nursing home, and 100% handicapped accessible.
  • SJ's is a Roman Catholic parish in a Congregational church building. MIL is a Roman Catholic parish in a Roman Catholic church building.
  • SJ's unofficial mission is to serve the poor. MIL's unofficial mission is to uphold the orthodox Roman Catholic Faith that was codified during the Council of Trent.
  • SJ's high altar was restored by my friend, but is ignored. MIL's high altar was restored and in full commission.
  • SJ's has lay lectors and eucharistic ministers who distribute Communion in the hand. MIL no such caveoat exists, Holy Communion is on the tounge, which is touched only by a person who has received the Sacrament of Holy Orders.

SJ's does not have a continuous CCD program; it only lasts one week in the summer, teaches that "Jesus luvs u", and the kids do not know the Hail Mary, Hail Holy Queen, the Creed, the Acts of Faith, Hope, and Charity, nor do they believe in the Real Presence.

MIL has a Latin Mass Childrens' Catechism every Sunday before Mass during the academic year, the children know some Latin, the Ave Maria, the Salve Regina, the Credo, and the Angelus (which is a hard one!), and so forth. They also have several altar boys serving the Sunday Mass, which is most of the time a Solemn High Mass. They come to know Gregorian Chant, the lives of the Saints, dogma, the True meaning of Christmas, Easter, and St. Patrick's Day, and they know how to properly dress for church.

We have to pray for the conversion of SJ's back to tradition. Please pray this on Ember Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday next week (Sept 15, 17, & 18):

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

O Lord, please deliver SJ's Parish, 016xx, back to the tradition the your beloved son demanded. This parish is tempted by the devil to go against the Holy Trinity and the True Church of Christ. Make sure, with the grace of the Holy Ghost, that the parishioners and clergy of this parish, and all other parish alike, rediscover the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic church, professing One True Faith, and be clear of all heresy. I ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Ghost, God. World without end. Amen.

Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory be...,

V. Pray for us, O blessed Peter and Paul.
R. That may we be worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray:

O Lord, you have guided your servants, Peter and Paul, in their mission to spreading the teachings of your son, Jesus Christ. Let them intercess for SJ's Parish, and for all parishes looking for the adoration, praise, and thanksgiving that the Most Holy Sacrifice that he commanded, be offered to you, in perpetuality. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
